- Short circuit and overload protection – the transformer will shut off automatically in the case of short circuit or overload, after removing the cause of the short circuit or overload the transformer will start to supply the load again.
- In the event of over temperature the transformer will cut the load by means of a thermal fuse.

- The total wattage of the lamps must not exceed the wattage of the transformer.
- The maximum distance between the transformer and the 12 volt lamp must not exceed two metres.
- The transformer must not be positioned closer than 200mm to the lamp.
- The transformer must not be positioned near central heating pipes or covered with insulation.
- All the transformers may be installed with suitable dimming equipment.
- One 60 watt transformer will operate a 50 watt halogen lamp or 3 x 20 watt 12 volt halogen lamps.
- One 210 watt transformer will operate 4 x 50 watt 12 volt halogen lamps.
- Use the same lengths of cable between each lamp and the transformer.
- The lamps should be wired in parallel.
